It was in 2001 that Johnny Galvan left the parts counter at Central Texas Harley-Davidson to pursue an interest in the vintage years of Harley motorcycles (we’re talking 1936-1984 models). Johnny started Kool Daddy Motorcicle Repair as an entrepreneurship; his three years at Cen-TX and a lifetime spent around motorcycles meant that starting his own business was a natural next move.

In the early years, the shop was based at home, with most jobs referred by word of mouth or business cards. As the shop’s reputation grew, Johnny obtained referrals from Georgetown’s Hogg Alley and Central Texas Harley-Davidson. Over time, the business grew and expanded into Kool Daddy Motor Cicles.

Johnny’s sole proprietorship was dissolved, and Kool Daddy Motor Cicles LLC was formed in August 2008. The shop was moved out of the house and into a commercial building, with plenty of space to set up a professional motorcycle repair and restoration facility. Matt Doane (of Bastrop’s Fatt’s Parts) was hired on as shop foreman for 1984-present models, and a team of qualified mechanics has been lined up to specialize in later model bikes. It took quite a few years and a lot of work, but Kool Daddy is now established as a full-service facility for repair, restoration and custom jobs for any and all Harley Davidsons, from 1936 to present. Especially with a specialization in older machines, Kool Daddy aspires to be the comprehensive shop that Austin truly needs, with a level of customer service and expertise that will keep riders coming back.
